well this story is not a work of fiction. It is inspired by the true incidents in the life of some close to me. I can't answer this question that why did I decided to write on this , maybe I was having too much spare time :P.

Well this story is about a series of incidents that happened in the life of Shashank which shook him from within and taught him a lot about life , friends , love and trust.

Varun ki kahani , meri Zubaani (Story of the friend in my words) . Story starts on the day 3 of college , which was on the records the first interaction between me and Varun. Well, then I was a silent guy with a flavor of shyness in nature. One day, I find this guy walk up to me and say hello. Next day I find out that we work on the same project. As the time passed, we started gelling up well and we spent a lot of time together. He always had this girl Avantika around him. I found her quite unusual in the first meeting, thanks to the schooling background I had where girls were something forbidden. We didn’t had a chance to interact with any girls nor did I had any sister , who would have some girlfriend , with whom I can talk. Yeah it was a complete black out in terms of girls. But, she was nice, she too gelled up well with me soon. Three of us were like the wolves pack. People in the college gave us funny names, one which I still remember and enjoy was Ram , Sita and Hanuman ( guys , this name is copyrighted with me the writer , I just added this for flavor :P). Things were going on smooth, I was slowly turning into improved version of me and both Avantika and Varun were getting along well.

Towards the end of the pen-ultimate year of our graduation, Avantika and Varun started having issues. I don’t know why or what were the reasons exactly, but what could I remember is that towards the end of the day I could see them fighting ( when I say fighting , please don't play with your imaginative power and imagine HHH vs Trish from WWE, ;) ). You know what, I tried to play the peace maker role and shock absorber but , yes this is the first but in the story(Oye not Salman Butt of Pakistan). Every next morning they were back again together and happy. I always wondered did they have any reset buttons or they just pressed shift+delete on yesterday. Soon, I got used to these daily gags and I stopped interfering between them. But I never knew that these daily gags are getting stacked up somewhere.

Soon we had our campus placements. Varun and Avantika got through the first few companies. As far as I am concerned I wasn't selected in anyone of them. Yeah that is lame and lazy me for you. I waited for a few more companies and finally got stuck to TCS, and I am still figuring out was that good or bad, well for me and the company both. It is a two way process, right? After the placements we were like the Chutte Saand (loose bulls , :P) and we used to have fun with friends, juniors and freshmen. That was the first time when I saw her, her freshness , her smile bowled me over. Oyeeee , wait ... that is not the part I wanna discuss here. Well I discovered that Avantika and Varun are not going along well together. The daily gags were turning into stunts. Some of the stunts were really deadly and breathe taking. I was puzzled what has happened to these guys. I still tried to be peacemaker, but they were always stronger in their views and in end I had to leave it to them to decide.

College ended, everyone was preparing for joining the companies they were meant to. Avantika and Varun joined 4 months before me. I was at peace and harmony in my first ever relationship. I was located in Hyderabad. It was a lonely place with these three special people. It was just 12th day of my training when I learned that something unexpected has occurred. I was horrified by the impact of this. Avantika and Varun broke up. This was very painful and shocking for me. Varun told me that after joining company Avantika has completly changed. She spends more time with this new guy, she has told everyone that Varun is a hooligan ( I learned this term from my Ex-Project Manager, thank you sirji :) ). He has been chasing her since the very first day in company. Her acts became inappropriate and unacceptable. Even if she was getting away there should be a little bit patience before getting passionate for someone else. One fine day she came to him ,told him to take his white ass off her life completely, in short officially broke off with him and left him like a thirsty bird on a sunny day in desert. ( please don’t try and connect this to Pyar ka Punchnama .. though I too did tried to find relevance there ).

Mera kaandha aur rumaal ( My shoulder and tissue). I talked to my Varun every single day and tried to pacify him. I patiently listened to him, tried to make him comfortable and stable. He abandoned all normal activities and did something that I wish he should have never done. He tried to kick the steel solid ass of the new guy who was in Avantika's life. Things got very weird and finally his family decided to pull him off from that place, the job, and away from Avantika. Varun was devastated , completely shattered. He felt like rotten egg (I used rotten egg here coz I hate my chemistry teacher for making smell that rotten egg in Salt Analysis experiment in chemistry lab… grrrr x-( ) . I was finding it hard to help him, as I was away for my training. As they say “When there is will there is way”, ahha!! .One day my angel (my girl friend, not God's angel , stick to my plot , please) called me and told me that she is ready to help him. And yeah, to my surprise she did it , and my friend Varun was saved from a miserable life.

Hmm... sorry readers , I forgot that this story is about me and should , though I am still talking and am in the center . Friend's story went a bit long, isn’t it ? Yeah I know. But don’t worry , Avantika will not bother us anymore. Thank you, Avantika for your time. Well, as these things were going on , I was having everything smooth and silky at my side . I guess that is true, at least I still believe that . Never mind, It was time to visit home after 5 months of training. After 5 months I will see my angel, damm!!, she is so cute. I missed her so much.
Dilli ki Sardi aur meri aashqui (delhi winter and my love story) Rolling a little back. ( It meant in time , not on your couches and beds, you are so lazy, keep reading). We all were placed. As I mentioned earlier I improved and as well as I started interacting with girls. So one day , my friends were teasing these juniors to find out some details about them. I was in the corridor , when she came running to me, asking for the details. I was mesmerized by the childishness in her voice, the softness on her face. I gave her the details of my friend and she was so happy like she has found a treasure. She thanked me and went running. I followed her. She straight away went to my friend. There were other juniors too. I walked into the scene and I asked her to find about me. First she said No, but I don’t know why did she agreed. Well , that night I gave her all my details in the mail though. ( aww… Shashaank man you are no fun at all, I agree love makes you simply idiot ). That was the first interaction between me and Anjali. Yes, it is her name, cute name isn’t it. As expected , we started having conversations all over orkut (yeah , this dumb guy is still not on Facebook). Soon it came to SMS, then calls , then hanging out together. We had a cultural program in our college and I was in back stage management committee. As you can guess , I took her in my team. I started feeling for her ,yes a guy from a background where girls were forbidden was feeling for a girl. I don’t know why but she also had feelings for me.

Ye sham mere pyaar k naam ( raise a toast for my love) I had decided that I will ask her out. My classmates organized a party every year for class people. I thought that this was the right time. I forced them to open this party for all the college people. I invited her. Ahhh!! I had to pay for two people now and one time I was in no mood to pay for myself even. Its love ,so what budgets should be considered. ( I told you right this guy idiot, but he is stupid too). Anyways I arranged money and she came to the party. As I was not sure of what would be her reaction , so I executed my plan. I took her to a lonely place. I gave her a rose and a gift. I narrated in a very sexy style the lines that I wrote and practiced in my Nokia 5310 Express Music phone. I am not advertising Nokia, but I loved my first phone, it was so amazing. She took rose but refused the gift. That gift must still be with my friend who asked her to get his details.

Though she refused my proposal, but I never gave up. And yeah so did Varun. Varun was talking to her, trying to convince her about me. Boy oo boy, and he succeeded. She accepted me, though this acceptance came just before my last mid-term exam, which I screwed up in anxiety. Anyways, I was on Stratosphere, way above the cloud nine. ( I told you this guy is full of dumbness). I was living the dream.

Well readers the story begins now.

I went away for training in Hyderabad. I was missing my angel (Anjali) This was a very tough time for us. I was busy entire day in training and came to hostel in night. Thanks to the seriously tough management of TCS, who didn’t allowed us cell phones inside the training center, I just got nights. But this was the problem, she was at her home thus she couldn’t talk to me in night. All we got Saturday where she could spare some time from college and we could have call. I waited everyday for Saturday to come soon, and wished that Saturday never got over. ( ohh god , people go so dramatic when they are in a condition called love). Training got over , I went back to Delhi. I saw my angel she was so pretty. We talked and talked a lot. We also talked about Varun, who just had break up and was not well inside his head. I met Varun. He was in bad shape. I gave him some philosophy and some new motivation to start over his life again. It was time for me to move to move to a new place. The place is sometimes referred as New York of India , yes Amchi Mumbai. This is the place where I met this shitty writer.

Yeh dooriyan , inn raaho ki dooriyaan. ( being distance away from my love) We are away now for almost 4 months , I am dying to see her. I always believe that the text messages is not a good form to conversations. They don’t express the exact mood of the person you are talking to. Sometimes it happened that we got angry with each other just coz the exact emotions were not transferred. But , every next day came together, loving each other even more. Again I am mentioning that this is what I feel. Every time we had a concern, we resolved it and after that I loved her even more.

I am in love for more than an year now. It feels great to be with angel. Its July and soon Delhi will see rains. But these rains are bringing me no joy, coz my angel is not well. She is badly sick, and is in terrible pain. What a miserable feel it is , when you find the person whom you love the most in life is in severe pain and that too for a prolonged period . I can just listen to her pain and suffering which she is going through, but I can’t even hug her make her feel comfortable with the warmth of my body. This long duration of suffering has made her frustrated and pissed off, which is causing a lot of mood swings.
I don’t have any idea how to tackle this situation. I don’t know what to say and what to tell her on phone to make her comfortable. Her pain is still there, there is no sign of any relief with the medication that she is taking. She is physically very weak and fragile now. I have no idea of the extent that this has damaged her spirit, she is irritated. But one thing that is not happening is that she is also not speaking to me about this. She is avoiding any kind of communication with me on anything. I get no reply when I ask her about her health and also I don’t get any response when try to divert her focus from this mess.
What all I get is no response. I am unable to understand what she needs, what should I talk abt. Last time when I tried to fresh up her mood with some jokes I missed her genre big time and that resulted in almost death of the relationship. I am scared that last time I tried something and that didn’t work out which did so much harm to our relationship , but this time if I don’t do anything then also its going to result the same. Everyone is suggesting that I should try to be friend with her. I should just remind her that I am with her all the time and expect nothing. But I am losing my patience. I try hard to break the ice but she neither responding to it nor even considering my effort.( guys we have the second but, again it is no reference to Salman Butt).
You try to talk about everything that you can under this blue sky , like movies , friends , gossips, work , politics , even philosophy. But what you receive is a balance message from network operator and nothing else. The person you are trying to call or dropping message is either asleep or has made herself busy somewhere else that is of more interest to her than you and your idiotic chat. Your strength and your self belief are getting weak. And when you receive no response, they get weaker. But on other hand you also know that your love is having a very hard time and may or may not answer to you at all. You have no issues with this situation and you love her more with every second that pass.
There is one more vantage point to this scenario. Hold up your emotions for some time and vent them out after you finish reading this paragraph. Suddenly you realize that one of your close common friend who knows that she is suffering a lot reports to you that she is responding to him continuously and he is able to engage her and entertain her. Ahh , thank god she is talking. As I told you I believe in “when there is will there is a way”. She is responding to Varun. I am happy and feel a bit relieved. I feel content that at last someone is able to make her smile. But at the same time when I see myself in mirror, I know the reality and need to accept the truth and the fact that being in relationship also someone else is able to make her smile and not me. This is a very strong statement that I don’t understand her at all and I can’t even make her smile even and forget helping her pain. I feel that I am nothing but a piece of stinking shit. I feel that everyone is happy to deject me out of their lives. They just don’t need me, not even in good times and not even in bad times . I am not even comparable to a dustbin which takes all dirt and garbage to make people’s life clean and happy. What a shame for me that I can’t make her smile even, I am so bad at entertaining my love even. Do I even know her, whatever has happened has happened but that has made me realize that I am unemotional, I am just a body of muscle and bones with no feelings for no one.
This is nothing but the failure. Yes, yet another failure of mine. I had one failure before and this is the second time. I don’t know how it worked out last time, was I lucky that she stayed or she gave me a second chance. What I am feeling right now is that I don’t deserve her or any attention from her. When I should be the one who should be making her feel good, someone else has taken lead. I have realized that I am pathetic and irritating. I do not doubt her commitment but I doubt that will I be ever able to keep her happy and cheerful. Sometimes I wonder what kind of pressure or limitation did she had that she had to chose me and stay with me, when she knows that I may not be the best one for her.
I am happy that there is some relief to her misery by conversation with Varun. Thanks Varun for helping my angel. this time I got it very clear that I was never a good friend to her not even a person who understand what she wants and what she wants of me . Sometimes I doubt, I will never be able to treat her like princess which she deserves. Will it be good to slowly move out of her life and in such a way that she would never miss me.I’ll be a just a anonymous well wisher of her .

(Intermission, the above part of the story was in year 2010. Go have some popcorns and prepare yourself for the next half. The next half is the present time means November’2011. Well I should be preparing for myself for the Q2 releases but this crazy guy wants me to script. Damm I hate myself for giving him commitment. But the commitment came with unlimited beer and chicken , that was too tempting for me to resist.)

Ohhooo , wait a second you looser. I have read this for the second time and I guess after a very long time.( yes this drunk guy is serious he actually read this after a very long time, to be precise 8 months. (He is such a lazy bastard) Things have changed dramatically over the past 2 quarters. I can’t help this terminology, TCS has made me use this so often. What was I crying and feeling miserable for in the above paragraphs, actually has no relevance with me. Well to start with, due to my extensive mind blogging and research along with the connecting dots theory , I came to a conclusion that boy ohh boy I am mistaken a big time. What are am I crying for, that is have lost, was never mine. Well there is this new angle to this scene.
Scene 3, director’s cut :P.( I just wonder what can beer do with people, it made me come up with tag lines) Well let me take you a little back ( oye please don’t lay back on your sofa, he didn’t meant back on your sofa , and guys he is sentimental here , please behave :P ). Remember she was going through a very tough and rough time. She was miserable. As I told you anyone with such a prolonged exposure to pain can break, so did Anjali. This is what I think at least. Man I was trying a lot of things to cheer her up , to ease up her a pain little bit which eventually didn’t work. I tried to comfy her with messages, mail , calls and whatever that I could from Mumbai. I kept calling her , was always on message chat spoke on all the topics that she likes. But I too had some limitations, limitations that were imposed on me as a part of my job. I know keeping job at priority than your love is not acceptable. But sometimes the job demands more attention and it deserves that. So it was a Sunday , we had our production day. It was a big release and I couldn’t give her much time. I told her that this work will take a long and may carry on for the entire night. She said she was ok if I kept on messaging her. Well now you can connect it to Pyar ka Punchnama , I just missed a couple of her messages and just a few text later I got this “U prefer ur job over me , this is what u r , u will always do the same”. Man I knew the water is running over danger mark. (he he , I enjoyed the movie and I enjoy when this guy used to tensed on receiving any such messages from Anjali, he is such a pussy ). I tried to get back into the scene but I guess it was too late. After a couple of messages what I got was “You can finish your job, don’t bother about me , I got Varun to talk and take care of me”. Ohh God this message was serious it had no smilies you see. But then I got a message from Varun “ man , don’t worry I got her , I’ll keep her engaged”. Hmm.. did that just saved my ass or did that just shaved my ass , I am still figuring out. I was trying hard to make her happy and cheerful and all my efforts failed. But, whatever Varun did g was not even just helping her but also was considered amazing. He He , that was the first dot for you all. My efforts are worthless but his are precious to her. After she had been helping Varun to recover from his breakup , she was always concerned about Varun. Anjali was so much occupied with Varun that most of the times there was hardly anything to talk other than Varun. She always used to tell me that Varun is more caring and entertaining than me. Man, sometimes I think what the hell was I doing then , why didn’t I read some entertaining blogs so that I can entertain her. Well that battle is lost now. I was no more entertaining and cheerful and caring and concerned and … …and … and … . The list I guess never ends , that is a typically a girl’s list of disagreement , it has to be long.
Well after this production in my office happened and I had time to figure out what I did wrong that night, I couldn’t come up with anything. I just thought it was my fault. But, when I did connected the dots I came up with this. Again reading the following lines will prove that I am a rational fool. If she was in relationship with me , why will she discuss with him the so called tough time, that tough time details were very very personal with anyone or I should say Varun. How I figured this out ?? ahha , I recalled that Varun after the day of production, told me that he researched a lot on the problem that Anjali is going through. He did find few medications for her. Well instead of telling me about those medications, he tells me that the previous night they had a long chat and he has already told her this. Wow, when I was trying to talk , she was busy with Varun. Anjali discussed her problems with him which she couldn’t discuss with me. Am I that stupid or ignorant that she couldn’t discuss that with me. Ohh , I remember till now according to even myself too I am the bad guy all busy with my work. Well , guys that is the second dot, discussing ultra personal stuff with Varun and not me.
Before I continue just a quick question that came to my mind. Was I always that stupid and ignorant or it is something that everyone does when they are in love. ( I am sorry , I forgot to tell you that Shashank watches Ekta Kapoor’s shows, and that is why that line came up, such a TV addict)
Jab dost soch rah tha ( when Varun was planning) I can say that he planning this for a long time and I must congratulate him for an amazing execution. It never struck me what is he upto. Being in a distant relationship, continuing your relationship on the same note is never easy and you find more issues in your relation than in the Software that you are testing. Same happened with me and Anjali. Things were not shaping up well between us. Every time situation was getting out of control and I looked for assistance and help, if anyone I could find , than it was Varun. I stupidly went to my friend. Yeah I was dam stupid that I discussed with him the issues. I never gave him details what exactly the issue is. I always avoided the details and gave him a situation to solve, just to maintain the privacy of my relation. I call my stupid because when I was busy doing this data hiding of my relation at the same time he had complete knowledge of issue. The issues was already discussed with him by Anjali and she had already replied to her. He always knew that my relation is going through very high tides ,what are the existing issues and why are they existing. I don’t know when did this started but he started using this knowledge against me. He created a rift between me and Anjali so deep that cant be parted. He on other hand was getting close to Anjali. How can I say that ? hmm every time me and Anjali had a call. She always used to say Varun is more sensitive , caring , and I thinks knows me better than you do. He took advantage of the knowledge and slowly but gradually kicks me out of the scene. After every discussion that I had with Varun, he came up with this statement ‘if u can’t keep her happy let her go’. But as I said I am stupid, I never found out the meaning of these words, as they also came with these lines ‘ you know, I am the culprit for the sufferings that both of you are going through, coz I one who pushed guys together’. Awwww that line was so cheesy. ( all I can think with cheese is , Domino’s Cheese burst pizza. Opppssss!! Sorry very sentimental scene is going on here)
Meri Panipat ki akhiri ladai February’2011. I had a very harsh conversation with Anjali. The issue this time was her series of highly stupid and unappreciated activities, which also involved certain activities that no boy friend in the world would like. I asked her did she appreciated what she did , she replied who the hell am I to ask that question. She crossed the line this time. Those words had blown my mind. She dropped me a message reading “It is over between me and you, good bye”. That was the topping on the cake. First, I was damm angry and now I am damm irritated with her response. She wanted to leave she can, I don’t care. Wait a minute I care a lot. Every time , anything of this sort used to happen , I immediately used to switch my mode to DEFENSE. I used to call her back and sort out the issues. Like , every lazy donkey in love does. But this time water was above head level. I had decided that I wont call her back, she left me and she needs to step back. I had informed Varun about my decision, completely unaware of that fact he already knew it , thanks to his little sparrow.( he is not talking about Captain Jack Sparrow here ) Well , the time was perfect, Varun knew time was not good at all for my relation. so he played his game. On one hand Varun was a peace maker, well very cleverly on other hand pushed the idea of getting over the relation in our mind.
Time to finish off the job. Well Varun very cleverly kept me away from the proceedings, he knew , I am very angry and I wont take the initiative this time. He started placing his cards. He told me not to worry and he will take care of her, and wont let her go on wrong path. As I told u I was stupid that I even bought this. Varun kept me bouncing with the gyan , “pyar vyar kuch nahi hota… kuch log chahkar bhi sath nahi reh pate.. jane de use … tum dono k liye yahi achcha h”(love doesnot exist and some however hard they try still cant be together. Let her go , its good for both of you )On other , hand he became the shoulder for Anjali to cry on. Varun increased the frequency of everything between him and Anjali. And he pulled Anjali out of her dramatic breakup but on his side. Now you tell me isn’t that Bond or Bourne stuff. Such a clean fishing. ( what was the last line for ?? will he be giving Hollywood context now ? )

September 2009 Behakane k liye Mehkhane jane padta h,aur agar khud mehkhana aapke pas aa jaye to kya kahenge ( to get drunk u need to go to a bar but what if a bar comes to you) Oooohhh ooo wait. Story is not over yet reader. There is one more angle. Well , the angle says I am not only dumb and stupid but I also don’t go through details. I told you my friend Varun had his break up too. He was not quit able to take it, he did very crazy stuff. He brought a lot of embarrassment to Avantika, his family and himself. That time I consoled him , pacified him. I stood with him through all his bad time. I gave whatever I had and I could to bring him out of his misery. Well, then as I told u I am stupid, I did what I should not have done ever. I was away in training. Varun used to talk to me and he also used to talk to Anjali to put out all his frustration and empty his head. One fine day, Anjali calls me and asks that will I mind if she gives more attention to Varun , spends more time with him , just as a friend , to make him feel better , to bring him out of this terrible situation. I was really amazed at the maturity of my love and her understanding. I said that will be great. I told her that you will be helping me by helping my friend. Boy oo boy , what was wrong with me , what did I just do. Fish!!
Kuch log paer pe kulhadi marte h , mene paer kulhadi pe de mara ( some woodcutters accidently throw axe on their feet but some do it with a purpose without considering the outcomes) They started talking, chatting , meeting . I could significantly see changes coming in Varun. He was getting normal and Anjali has done wonders for me by doing this. But really ??? They started meeting , had late night calls and messages were exchanges. well these calls and messages never happened to me though considering the late night factor . They started hiding stuff from me, they lied to me that they were talking or together. And slowly and slowly there was a special place for Varun in Anjali’s heart. I was already drifting out of the picture. And I , never figured this out, slowly and eventually Varun came over his break up and started hooking up his new girl.

Ab Varun karta h Sacch ka Samna 8 months later. I went home for celebrating Diwali. I had made plans for class reunions. Reunions went great. After the reunion , as usual me and Varun went for a drink. His phone kept on buzzing every minute with someone’s messages. Well I don’t have a habit of sneaking into other’s phone. As Varun was driving the car , I held his phone. Now the phone rings and name that appears is very familier to us. It was Anjali. Varun quickly grabbed the phone and hung up. He sent her a message “I am with ur ex”, to which he got a response “ok , enjoy”. I don’t know why did he showed me those two messages. May be he was trying to avoid the tough question from me. I didn’t had issues with these call and messages, its their life and I know they are friends. Varun parked his car in front of 1911 bar. I got off the car and started walking towards the bar. When I turned around I found Varun was busy on the phone and looked very involved. I don’t know what happened then , some lightening struck on me or some one opened my eyes. I started quizzing the incidents that happened over in past. I did put questioned myself and put in reasons for the same. I was not ready to believe that Varun and Anjali are going out. I always thought that the way I have maintained the dignity so far same way Anjali will to maintain her dignity and won’t put me or herself into embarrassing situations. I was not ready to believe that Varun could do this, I respected him above all I trusted him so much. I hated myself for even thinking this way. I tried to get over it, but it was too strong notion. I gathered all my courage together and threw my friendship at stake. One fine day I decided that I should ask this question straight to Varun. I wrote a mail to Varun and demanded that I have a right to know the truth between him and Anjali .He didn’t replied to me for a week. And on one fine Sunday night he called me.He confronted to front of me that ‘yes , we are more than just very good friends. I always wanted someone who understands me very well, who knows me better than me and yeah she does. And she always wanted someone who gives her importance and cares for her too much. Sorry, but you were never that person’. I remember he used to say this all the time, ‘ I will make Anjali my girlfriend someday, she is too sweet’. I thought it was joke, but man he did it. He always meant it. My friend , I trusted u more than myself, I looked at you as someone who could help me just to help me. Wow man , what a way to help. Thanks for stabbing me in back, thanks for the pain.

Today , I am alone, still figuring out what just happened back then . They are together, in so called more than just very good friends relation. I have isolated myself from them and from everyone else in this world. I don’t know whether I will be able to trust and love anyone now. I don’t even know will I have anymore friends. I even don’t know that will people be around me or not. Sometimes I just wonder was there any relation that existed ever involving me? I know its human to develop feelings for someone , but is it ethical in bro code to date your so called best friend’s gal, or is it right to start feeling for your lover’s friend who seems to miserable? Indians and All well that ends well

well guys , this time I have no complains to Government or the Policy makers but I am seriously disgusted with closed Indian mentality that is not ready to accept truth.

I watched movies where a robber turns into a saint, and he is readily forgiven for all his robberies. I read few books where a over ambitious person do a lot of devilish stuff and still escapes the punishment.

I don't understand the need to keep Ajmal Kasab alive till today and investmenting heavily in keeping him alive. Why do Govt has to use our hard earned cash to keep alive a cockroach like Kasab. Well , not deviating from the topic much, I tried figuring out why can't we give up our notion of All Well that Ends Well. Even SRK was able to make a successful movie just out of this notion.

I recently read a book "If God was a Banker". First of all there was nothing referring to God, except for God being remembered on two lines in the entire book. Damm! What a bad relevance of the topic to content. There a guy in the book who is over ambitious and one who cannot accept failure. This guy is so egoist that he cant even tolerate any one turning him down. He is sinful and devil, he can go to any extent to full fill his own desires. He has no emotions , he forces women around him to be in relationship with him, betray their spouses. At a time this guy can handle 6 7 women. He either asks directly to these women for satisfying him or made the situations where they fall prey to him. He is a fraud, makes millions of USD through illegal means , giving benefits to all those who could satisfy his crouch or his account.

Now , its the judgement time. He is asked to testify for all the charges. He is being interrogated and big people in the organisation are willing to take it to media and fire him. Everything is going on well, he is about to pay for his sins. But wait for a sec, the writer thought how will this book sell if nothing ends well. Shit, this writer screwed it all. He made a climax where this guy is forgiven for all his sins. His family accepts him, society accepts him.

WTF, if this is true, why cant you accept people like kasab , dawood. You cant accept them coz you feel that what they have done is not right. when you believe in Karma, why cant you express yourself in books, in media and novels. Why do writers , story tellers have to stick with All well thing. Media please write what is true and not bluff around. What people read is directly effecting the way they think. Your All well notion is somewhere making them think that they can chose wrong ways and still escape. It is very evident from the current situation of the country. Please narrate the right thing even though it comes a hard way. Make people learn , they have to pay for their sins in a very hard way.

A fear of payback can help avoid people from committing sins. Work on making this world a better place to live in.

On one fine evening , I was relaxing on my bed watching movie. There was a nice breeze that day, cool air passing through my hairs. That was such an amazing feel. I felt lighter and content. But wait a second what am I writing , this post is supposed to be about break up thing. How can it be so smooth? Awww… bad really bad on my part , sorry mislead you people.
Well , yeah this blog is supposed to be about my break up thing. Please man now I am trying to get into the mood of heart break kid and you are on to literal meaning. My body is not disintegrating, its about break up from my relationship. Where is my glycerin man , I need to make the ambience like that. Please note this is for the readers , now I am crying , so whatever I am writing should be taken seriously :P.
Ok, so on that fine evening , which I described above. When I was about to attain nirvana , my cell phone beeped and I donno some invisible hand pulled me back into this world. I was back with a BANg, though this sound was made piece of my heart my X10 mini fell on the floor. What next I read on the screen was breath stopping like I just got a paralysis attack and everything went numb. From the blues of sky some alien has done something in my phone, the message was from my gal and it read ‘I am not in a relationship with you anymore’. Hmm , that is a mistake definitely a mistake , some one else’s message got delivered to me with her name. I know she will call in night and we’ll talk about everything under the sky.
1 hour passed, 2 hours, when these hours became days , I have no idea. Man this is serious , there was no alien who did that, it was her and she was damm ! serious . I am into shit now deep shit!!.so I decided like every time to pick up my phone and call her sort out the things, but then due to some data processing in my head I did nothing. So this was a stupid story of my break up. But what is to be mentioned here is, I donno how to react , I donno what to say and do as I am going through my break up. AAwwwww … I have watched so many bollywood movies , but they are of no help. Someone said you should listen to sad songs and cry , listening part was ok but man I couldn’t cry as I don’t feel anything. Now this is serious , I should cry coz that is the code of conduct of break up. Well that is the teasing part I am not sad , I am not crying , I am doing no crazy stuff. But , this is not the way ideally people after breakup do. Rather I am feeling awesome , I enjoyed loads of movie and I am feeling awesome. I am clueless why am I feeling so. Any ways the next post will be more of gossips and images that attract you in all corners .

Missing Saturday

when i came to mumbai, in the initial days we used to just wait for Saturdays so that we can go out n have fun. but this is to our dismay that as we grew in experience ( though i learned nothing :( ), i kept on losing the zeal to enjoy life. the routine effected the mannerism and sometimes questions the very existence of me.

Saturdays used to be the days when we woke up late in morning and sometimes if had a friday night out then even late in afternoons. thanks to the alcohol ( the best buddy to all of us) and all those hot chicks who were just around us. they never will be with us i guess ( have to say those Gals have a bad time , as they keep missing us). don't feel very great n proud as i am trying to make every one reading this feel guilty.
Need to make a remark here that i seriously miss some crazy bastards who will push u to enjoy, to go out have fun, ask those chicks out. may be some stifler is missing in our lives.

coming back to my saturday, it used to be with Simon at our place. Well FYI Simon dont come these days , think he found some interest in Vashi. day used to start with Hangover , moving to a tea stall looking for remedy to that monster headache. coming back and then doing business who who paid for what , called as Hisaab . Damm !!! i hate this, screw up. i hate this becoz of the complexity involved , not mathematically but when u have to give money as change :-X.

entire week's pressure , pains would disappear just with beer ( wont say 1 , as one is never sufficient :P) and movies. staring at gals from the window using some one's binoculars was amazing. i know that is bad practice , but no one stops bribe that eats nation , why to stop us we dont harm any one.the objective was to forget that we mis our families , our love. we have amazing people around us , but we restrain ourselves to be with them. but saturdays would change everything, no restriction no bounding.

but the day this production , go live activity has started on week ends they made my weekends shrink, saturdays extinct and sundays a rare thing in my life. if business does not happen on weekends , people dont trade do transactions then why do u spoil my week end. ever since this has happened i miss Simon, my beer , my movies , my nightouts, my window , my binoculars checking gals and above all my happy Saturdays.

people technology comes again, projects come again , but Saturdays once gone don't revert. the whole point of investing my time and wasting yours is go out have fun, work hard in week days . enjoy saturdays, get along with nice babes to nice pubs disc or what ever your pocket allows ( i know a lot u r like me fresher with almost no money , gareebo :P). dont think that this is waste of money, but a tranquilizer to ur undressed emotions :P. dont waste ur time reading my blog now, go have fun, u already wasted 10 mins reading this. Damm!!! it takes so long to motivate u all losers like me :P

Lets pledge we wont mis saturday and sunday from now onwards. good going keep enjoying my Pravachans :P

My symbiotic relationship with QA

it has been over 10 months in QA , and months seemed to flip over in a blink. I came as a fresher from ilp and seriously had no idea what was am I doing ? in very initial stages of the graduation we developed this inception that QA is good for nothing , u waste urself in QA. Well the blog is not about who is better QA or Dev. Its about what am I doing in QA and what is QA doing to me . it’s a symbiotic relationship . lets see through what all we have done to each other.

Day 1 : it’s always filled with anxiety and insecurity blended with zeal to mark my presence. But what u decide is not always what u get, sometimes things are quite better and sometimes they shake ur core.

Next few days : when the anxiety is gone, it clears the picture of what u have in front is not the very same u thought of. For example , when I started my first regression I was cautious in every step that I did , every communication that I wrote . I always wanted image processing , as I like images in memory. I don’t know what should I call this , I became more cautious in even speaking to strangers. Like they were some application and I have to do an analysis of them.

After a month , when u are well absorbed in the team. Now is the time when we are introduced to status mails and scenario writing. This is the point where the complexity starts developing. As a new bee I was never sure of what is a scenario about. And every day I had to write a status mail to tell the oldies what I did. And soon this became a characteristic feature of my personality when I gave my status for the day to my mom and told my girlfriend what issues was I facing in application? Gosh!!! what am I doing ? but this had a positive node also attached to it , that was I started analyzing my self and I am sure this will help , at least in choosing new girl friend.

Another feature that got introduced in my personality was during transition. I always felt like the kid of “Tare Zameen Pe”, all lost among the stars n galaxies during KT session. I treated my self as Troy, who can always cut through the application. When I was kid , I used to break down all the toys cars n gadgets that I had, open them and fix them. I guess that is what I do in QA also. I testify the applications for users but me as an application has loads of bugs. I can make a statement here that I never found good testers in life who could identify them :P.

Now the analytical ability to identify and verify the business flows is more habitual . I don’t have to think analytically , my thinking process has turned analytical. I tend to find analytical solutions and reason for not only work but in situations that my friends are in. I patiently listen to them , wow this is also what QA did to me J, made me patient. They just want to speak out their frustration and we being analytical think they want a solution. So I just provide them business solutions. One suggestion to all my tester community , don’t put on ur thinking when u speak to ur girl / boy, coz this may help u in business but might land u in deep trouble with the one . To deal with ur loved ones read ‘Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus’.

QA made me a better analyst , patient and intellectual person but at the same time made me more confused in deal with my self. I don’t spin the coin in air to decide what I want rather I do think what would be optimum. I think of scenarios and plan out the strategy just as the way I do at work but that nullifies the fun of unpredictable nature of life. Here we come closure of this nonsense where I made no point and thus managed to make u either more confused or plant the inception of getting confused. Yippy QA is too good in this. well earlier i didn't agreed to it.actually the cricketing community believes that micheal clark is the cause of the torn apart dressing room of aussies.and the recent events in the indian cricket scenario makes me think of the same.this time it's not micheal clark it's mahendra singh dhoni.even before the world cup the team appaered to fragile and torn apart.thw sehwag issue, loss of temperment in media meeting,people not attending team meeting,top form players under performing,the lack of lusture on field. all these things show thatteam was not gelled up and the consequences are tata bye bye to title.

The big starred Team India couldn't win a single game against any Test playing nation.They could not even match the standards of the international T20 players.Where are those big promises gone that "YEH CUP KAHIN NAHI JAYEGA". ............ GONE WITH THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF IPL 09. hehe folks let's accept this very fact which i stated in my previous posts too IPL is INDIAN PROFIT LEAGUE where it's just not the frenchises and bcci who earn but the players too.

These men in blue perform only in the IPL. ahh i knew you require facts lets have a look the best bowler under performs,two top performers in batting under perform,except yuvraj and bhajji no performed to standard.

Captain Cool lost it , had fights temper in media.opening pair couldn't take india to decent start,kings of swing lose line and lenght just after being hit for a boundary.

these people just wanna play ipl,and the problem is not that if u know defending title is gonna be tough then you should accept it just not bloat about the fake success.India can take only one satyam at a time not any more.

A few days back i read a news paper that gave the list of the projects that are in pipeline or are about to start very soon,this included some dream projects like Metro,BRTS. At that particular moment i thought and the government who just seems to taking pain to do something for the public welfare other than commenting,but today i'm not writing to screw up the government statements and policies.

you would not be amazed if i tell u that whenever my mom ask me to go to the walled city i feel like i'm having intense head ache,nad u know the reason,the GREAT TRAFFIC SENSE of the jaipurites.now u would be intrested in knowing what is wrong with that.i tell it's qiute a long list, and i can start with this

1. any one does actually know what is a stop line and where is it?

2.has any body heard that u need to stop on every red light, irrespective of whether it is heavy traffic or light.the best example for this is the red light in front of university of rajasthan's gate.

3.how many young riders and car drivers know that u should not answer the phone call while driving.

4.this one is my favourite ,how many people think that it is necessary to take side before turning

5.how many many people do realise that having working tail and break light is as important for the vehicles behind u as are the front lights for u.

6.this one is awesome how many of the license holders actually signifies that they want a u turn.

7.how many people konw that there is a no horn or better known as silent zone on the Jawaharlal Nehru Marg.

8.well most of the time i shout at people for this, how can some apply breaks right in the middle of the road when it is vacent and without any pre sign of doing so, in hindi we call this khade break lagana.

9.almost all the taxis and mass tranport vehicles including the government vehicles also donot have tail lights and indicators at all working.

The fact is that jaipur's majority of traffic problems are associated with the driving style and habbits of the jaipurites.even if the state government builds and provide latest technology,equipments the problem would be still the same.so jaipurites either improve ur driving habbits or get ready for some seroiusly bad traffic in coming future

There's been a lot in the news lately about traditional Indian values, and the women who are destroying them.

The kick-off event for the current culture war was the attack by a right-wing Hindu group on a group of young women hanging out in a Mangalore pub at the end of January. The thugs claimed they were out to "save our mothers and daughters," who had been corrupted by western culture. The stories continue to trickle in:

"Man assaults jeans-clad wife for dressing up like men" (4 Feb)
"Mangalore goons target noodle straps" (4 Feb)
"Karnataka moral cops threaten Hindu girls for talking to Muslim boy" (26 Feb)

And on and on. In one incident after the other, men have verbally and physically abused women who breached one of the many unwritten rules of proper female conduct.

Then Valentines Day rolled around. I've always found V-day to be commercial, boring and vaguely nauseating. It never occurred to me before I moved to India that it could be offensive, too. I read with some amusement about how last year in Delhi, 100 Shiv Sena men held a protest and shouted slogans like "People who celebrate Valentine's Day should be pelted with shoes" (Is that any catchier in Hindi than it is in English, I hope?).

I don't get it. Why it is "indecent" for a woman to wear a tank top or jeans, yet nobody bats an eyelash when men scratch themselves, spit and urinate, um … everywhere?

If this about rejecting Western influence and materialism, an argument I can understand, why not also target Indian men who wear jeans or imported suits, drink Coke, shop at malls and watch Hollywood movies? Are Western practices only offensive if they are adopted by women?

Shiv Sena and the like argue that they are "custodians of Indian culture" and are defending "traditional" values. Since when is assaulting women a traditional Indian value? Who gave these guys a mandate to decide for the rest of the country how everyone ought to live? Which Indian values, exactly, are they defending? It would seem it's only those that keep women subservient.

Their repressive efforts were effective, sadly, with many women reporting that they were afraid to go out alone or to be seen talking to a boy from a different religious background.

But the Saffron Brigade, as they are affectionately known, did not go unchallenged. One very vocal opponent is a loosely organized - but 54,000 strong - group of women (and plenty of men, too) called the Consortium of Pubgoing, Loose, Forward Women.

The name alone is a stroke of creative genius, and it proves that the fight against fear mongering and repression doesn't have to be humorless. The women leading the effort could have taken a conventional (read: boring) approach to make their case; instead, they launched a campaign to send thousands of pairs of pink underwear to the heads of the moral police.

Indian Premier League (IPL) has suffered a serious set-back with skipper Shane Warne likely to miss the rest of the tournament due to a hamstring injury.
Warne, who is also the team's coach, was injured when he was batting against Deccan Chargers here on Monday night. Rajasthan Royals lost the match by 53 runs. Warne required a runner while batting and will probably need 10 days to recover.

In Warne's absence, Graeme Smith is likely to lead the side.

Rajasthan Royals director of coaching Darren Berry said: "I think it is a balancing act that will be our focus to get it right. We can field just four overseas players and it is a difficult thing to manage. We have now put ourselves under pressure."

pakistan has confirmed the news of fresh attacks on the Taliban. well it was after the Taliban forces and the pakistan government had signed the sharia law implementation under the Malakand Agreement.i don't what motive is their behind the attacks on Taliban now.this is because when the goverenment knew that taliban is growing at a massive speed and will threaten very existence of the state of pakistan,then why didnot they had a check on the FATA and NWFP for the growing influence of taliban.

well the malakand agreement actually was the sign of the growing influence of taliban and the weakening democracy in pakistan. how can a state that says it belives in the democracy support or enter into an agreement with a body like taliban who says that they are the first enemy of the democracy.

the fresh attacks were certainly started under the international pressure and specially from the U.S., this is certainly clear from the sequence of events where U.S. threatned pakistan to either eleminate taliban or it will stop all kind of support and help to it.

India has got black money details from Germany: Government

NEW DELHI: Assuring the Supreme Court that it was trying to retrieve black money stashed in tax havens abroad, the government on Saturday said it

has already secured significant information from Germany and income-tax sleuths were following it up.

The finance ministry disclosed this in a 27-page affidavit to the apex court in response to a lawsuit accusing the government of doing precious little to retrieve Indian black money to the tune of Rs.70 trillion stashed abroad.

In its affidavit, the government also told the court that its persistent efforts in collaboration with international community have also resulted in Switzerland agreeing to make its secretive banking laws and norms more transparent in tune with the global standards.

Reiterating its assertion that it is not sitting idle in this matter, Director Priya V.K. Singh of the Department of Revenue under the finance ministry told the court that following repeated efforts since Feb 27 last year, the government got the information on Indians with secret accounts in LGT Bank of Liechtenstein March 18 this year.

The government, however, added in its affidavit that the information procured from Germany cannot be made public owing to the condition of strict confidentiality under which it was procured.

"On account of persistent follow-up by the union government, the German government provided the information (about Indians' secret bank accounts) on March 18, 2009," said the affidavit.

"The said information, however, was made available on the condition of strict confidentiality of contents under the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement," it added.

"The information received from the German authorities has been forwarded to various taxation authorities concerned for action as appropriate under the provisions of the Income Tax, 1961 and the Wealth Tax Act, 1957," it said.

It added "the tax authorities have initiated the process of reopening the assessments (of those tax evaders) under the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Wealth Tax Act, 1957".

Shane Warne, the Rajasthan Royals captain, has named Kamran Khan, a 18-year-old rookie left-arm fast bowler, as one of the players to watch out for in the IPL starting in Cape Town on Saturday. Warne has also provided fresh insights into his relationship with Graeme Smith, a bitter rival once but an IPL team-mate now, and reiterated his controversial theory that an international team doesn't need a coach.

Warne, whose captaincy was a revelation during last year's IPL when he galvanised a bunch of not-so-famous players into a winning combination, insisted that he did not regret missing out on being Australia captain.

He shared his shortlist of Rajasthan's potential stars of this IPL with the South Africa-based Sunday Times newspaper and included Kamran, who bowled just one over against Cape Cobras in a warm-up on Saturday, alongside India players Ravindra Jadeja and Yusuf Pathan. Indian media reported that Kamran, who bowled Cobras' Justin Ontong with an off-stump yorker in that over, is the son of a woodcutter who gained his shoulder strength from cutting wood in Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh in north India. He is yet to play first-class cricket and was reportedly signed by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 12 lakh (US$24,000) a year after Darren Berry, the assistant coach, spotted him at a local tournament in Mumbai.

The team, which had nicknames for each player to pin down his role in the side, is reportedly on the verge of finalising one for Kamran. "We've got one young player who's going to be very interesting," Warne said. "We're tossing up now what his nickname is going to be -- Wild Thing or Tornado, something like that. Kamran Khan is a young kid, a left-armer, a slinger, he doesn't speak much English at the moment. He's a tiny little guy but he bowls 140 plus. Another guy to look out for is Ravindra Jadeja. He played last year, did enough but he's had another year of experience. Then there's Yusuf Pathan. He was dynamite last year, he just destroys medium-pace and spin bowling. He and Andrew Symonds are two of the cleanest hitters I've ever seen."

Smith was also important to his plans for a lot of reasons, Warne said. "One is that he's another captain to bounce ideas off," he said. "When I'm bowling, he's someone to keep an eye on the field. When I'm talking to a bowler he's making sure the best fielders are in the right spots. I think he enjoys the IPL as well, just having the opportunity and the freedom to go out and bat without the responsibility of anything else. For us, being in South Africa and having the captain of South Africa in our side is a huge advantage."

He said he had become "good buddies" with Smith after spending some time together during the inaugural IPL, and added that the latter had matured as a captain, too. "We had a few beers after the first game and chatted about a lot of stuff," he said. "We hung out a fair bit. We've kept in touch since then and become good buddies. They [South Africa] have done well. He's matured a bit too. He came in at a young age and wanted to try and mix it. He didn't want to take a backward step. He was so verbal and public about everything. We won 5-0 [in 2005/06] and I said to him the other day, when something's not working, try to do something else. Don't just continue and let the ego get in the way. He said, 'yeah, yeah, I've learned my lesson'. He learned a lot about himself and how things work. He's matured into a good captain."

Warne also insisted his views on international coaching had not changed even years after his controversial rift with John Buchanan, the former Australia coach.

"The only reason I'm coach is because the Royals don't really have a coach," he said. "I'm just the captain, really. I've got two assistants who do a good job in Darren Berry and Jeremy Snape. Darren looks after practice while I get around and speak to individuals and Snapey floats around, helps guys prepare and does some one-on-one stuff. Captains should always run the cricket. At international level I don't think you need a coach. At domestic level you need a coach."

He said he had no regrets about not being Australia captain but added he enjoyed captaincy. "I'd be sitting in a straitjacket in a padded cell if I started regretting everything that happened in my life," he said. "I never chased the captaincy. If I'd had the opportunity it would have been great but I don't look back and think about it. I've captained the Royals, Hampshire, Victoria and Australia in one-day matches. People can see the way I captain. I enjoy being captain and it brings out the best in me."

T20 American Premier League arrives

Twenty20 cricket fever has now also hit the US, with an inaugural American Premier League (APL) series set to take place in New York in October this year, the Afrikaans weekly Rapport said here on Sunday.

Rapport disclosed that former Proteas Nicky Boje, Andrew Hall and Lance Klusener had already been offered lucrative contracts to participate in the APL, which would be modelled on the success of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that will be played out in South Africa from the next week.

The three South Africans were banned from participating in South African teams after they became the first local players to sign up for the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) two years ago. The International Cricket Council (ICC) refused to recognise the ICL, with the BCCI launching the IPL in its wake.

Boje, Hall and Klusener, who have jointly represented South Africa in 113 Tests and 374 one-day games, will be in the (American) Premium World Team which will play against Premium India, Premium Bangladesh, Premium Pakistan, Premium Windies and home side Premium America, according to the weekly.

A knockout round, in which each side will play the others once, will be followed by semis and a final consisting of three matches.

The inaugural series of the APL , which will take place twice a year, will be played out in New York from October 6 to 26 and the next one in April 2010 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Like the IPL, the huge interest in the game has brought with it lucrative fees for the players.

The three South Africans have reportedly been offered two-year contracts with a payment of $50,000 per tournament, besides the money that bidders from the various franchises might spend and match money from the games. Players will also be contractually bound to participate in marketing campaigns across the US.

Bidding for the players in the APL sides will take place in the same way as that of the IPL, with players being sold to franchise holders with the highest offer.

IPL supremo Lalit Modi said at the launch of the IPL series in South Africa recently that there was a huge cricket-loving community in the US who had followed the inaugural IPL last year intensely. He also expressed a wish to take the IPL to the US and China in future.

The United States will institute benchmarks that Pakistan will have to meet, including scaling down its confrontational posture against India, if Islamabad is to earn the massive foreign aid Washington and its partners are lining up, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton indicated on Thursday. The benchmarks will include moving troops from its border with India to its insurgency stricken areas to fight its homegrown terrorism problem, Clinton suggested, following up on the broad US prescription and advice to Pakistan that its grave domestic situation, and not India, constituted the biggest danger to its existence.

Clinton provided the assurances about benchmarks at the urging of some lawmakers, but said she would prefer they remain an executive decision rather than legislative so that the administration would not be paralyzed. Some of the benchmarks would be classified, but the administration would share them with Congress.

"You know, on a simple measure, is the Pakistani military still amassing hundreds of thousands of troops on the Indian border, or have they begun to move those toward these insurgent areas?" Clinton explained at a Congressional hearing, citing the example of one such benchmark. "What kind of kinetic action are they taking? How much? Is there increasing up-tempo or not? Is it sporadic, so they start in and then they move back?"

"I agree with you completely that we need the internal benchmarks," she told an anxious lawmaker, adding the approach would be across the government. "The intelligence community will have certain measurements; the Defense Department will; we (the State Department) will look as well."

The Pakistani government — and some of its supporters like Senator John Kerry — has opposed legislative benchmarks, especially those which condition US aid to Pakistan ending its sponsorship of terrorism against India, saying they are humiliating. But lawmakers on the House side are against giving Pakistan a free ride given what they say is its history of double-dealing.

"I've been around this place 40 years. My experience with Pakistan during all that time is that it has always been Pakistan, which means it's a country of dealmakers, but they don't keep the deals," said Congressman David Obey. "I have absolutely no confidence in the ability of the existing Pakistani government to do one blessed thing."

Other members also complained about Pakistan's double-dealing – paying lip service to fighting terrorism while cutting deals with extremists. "How do we succeed in Pakistan if the Pakistanis themselves are either unwilling or incapable of making the tough choices and taking the tough action needed to confront the insurgency?" asked one Congressman.

Following up on President Obama's assurance that there will be no blank checks for Pakistan, Secretary Clinton also re-iterated what has become a virtual mantra in Washington in recent weeks: Repeated advice to Pakistan that it is not India, but Islamabad's own home-grown terrorism that posed an existential threat to it.

In an indication that US aid to Pakistan will be contingent on its India policy, even if it is not incorporated into legislation, Clinton said US officials have been "spending countless hours in really painful, specific conversations," to convince Pakistan of the changed situation. Pakistan was slow to understand this, she suggested.

"Changing paradigms and mindsets is not easy," Clinton told anxious lawmakers, adding, "I want to underscore the feeling we get, which is that if you have been locked in a mortal contest with someone you think is your principal — in fact, only — real enemy, and all of a sudden circumstances change, it just takes some time."

Similar policy prescriptions and sentiments (It's not India, it's home-grown extremists) were expressed at a Harvard lecture earlier this week by General David Petraeus, chief of the US Central Command with oversight of Pakistan and the middle-east, indicating that US interlocutors are all reading from the same page.

"The existential threat" facing Pakistan "is internal extremists and not India," Petraeus said in the speech at the Kennedy School of Government, adding such an idea was "intellectually dislocating" for the institutions of Pakistan fostered on decades of projecting confrontation against India.

Over at the White House, spokesman Robert Gibbs said the Pakistan crisis was taking a lot of President Obama's time. Defense Secretary Robert Gates too chipped in, asking Islamabad to recognize the danger and take action.

On her part, Clinton told lawmakers there is a growing understanding of the changed circumstances within the Pakistani leadership.

"Now, there are no promises. They have to do it (act against extremists)," she warned.

As a result, every change or new feature in Windows 7 comes with a back story. Here is a sampling of things you'll see in the next operating system and explanations of how each came about.

- New feature: You decide the left-to-right order of icons in the task bar at the bottom of your screen.

- Back story: Microsoft's research showed Vista users commonly launching a series of programmes, then closing and immediately reopening some. Microsoft realised that these people wanted their programmes to appear in the same order on the task bar every time.

- New feature: Right-click on a task bar icon and get a "jump list," a menu of important or frequently used options for the programme.

- Back story: Microsoft had resisted the idea of hiding a key feature behind a right click, worried people wouldn't find it. But the data showed most people right-click on icons to see what that might do.

- New feature: Drag one open window to the left side of the screen, then another to the right side to line them up so they are the same size and side by side.

- Back story: Microsoft couldn't initially figure out why people were spending so much time resizing windows and dragging them around. It turned out that users were trying to give themselves a side-by-side view of documents for easy comparison.

F or some Internet users, the operators of the noto rious the Pirate Bay Web site are heroes who have enabled free access to movies, music and other copyrighted material. This week, a Swedish court will decide whether they are criminals.

Last year, Swedish prosecutors filed criminal charges against four men they say violate the country’s copyright law by operating the Pirate Bay. The file-sharing site has long been one of the top Web destinations for people seeking access to pirated movies, games, books and business software. The site, which says it has 22 million users, is based in Sweden, where the government has taken few steps to curtail piracy until recently.

The four men—Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij and Carl Lundstrom—have denied the charges, arguing that they merely provided an index of content and didn’t control what other people did with it.

Arguments have finished, and a ruling is due Friday.

The men face up to two years in jail, although the prosecution has asked for sentences of one year. Entertainment companies, including Time Warner Inc.’s Warner Bros., EMI Group Ltd. and Sony Corp.’s Columbia Pictures, are also seeking a total of 117 million Swedish kronor ($14.2 million) compensation for lost revenue.

The case represents the culmination of U.S. attempts to get Sweden to take intellectual-property theft more seriously. Peer-to-peer file sharing has long been popular in Sweden. Most homes have broadband access and many people don’t see anything wrong with downloading entertainment without paying—in 2007, 43% of the peo- ple participating in a survey by Sweden’s biggest phone company said they planned to download music during the year. A Swedish political party is dedicated to legalizing peerto-peer file sharing, the main method for distributing pirated material.

Lately, however, and under heavy pressure from the U.S., the Swedish government has taken a tougher stance. This month, a law came into effect allowing content companies to obtain from Internet service providers the names and addresses of people suspected of sharing pirated files, a common practice in the European Union. On the day the law took effect, total Internet usage fell 40% in Sweden and has stayed down, according to Netnod Internet Exchange, an organization that measures Internet traffic.

The Pirate Bay trial, held over three weeks in February and March, became a publicrelations duel between the defendants and the entertainment industry.

The Pirate Bay has developed an international following in part because of its brazen attitude. It posts legal threats made against it for copyright violations on the site along with cheeky replies, lists its most-popular downloads and sells the Pirate Bay T-shirts by mail order. At the start of the trial, Pirate Bay supporters parked buses near the courthouse in downtown Stockholm where they held a press conference. The site’s founders say they believe in promoting free information.

The criminal trial had some Swedish quirks: only one of four judges had legal training and the defendants’ legal costs are being covered by the government. One day, both sides ended up in the same restaurant for lunch and traded awkward small talk.

Supporters posted daily accounts of the trial on the Web.

One of the defendants posted a note to hackers attacking the Web site of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the trade group for the music industry. “Whomever is hacking the IFPI websites, please stop doing that,” Mr.

Sunde wrote on Twitter. “It only makes us look bad!” The defense had an early victory when the prosecution dropped charges of being accessories to the production of copyrighted material, leaving them accused of “assisting in making available” copyrighted material.

Meanwhile, the head of the IFPI, John Kennedy, testified in the trial that the Pirate Bay had become “the No. 1 source of illegal music,” following successful court actions four years ago against peer-to-peer file-sharing sites Grokster in the U.S. and Kazaa in Australia.

Lawyers for the entertain ment companies said the site makes $1 million a year through advertising. The defense lawyers said the actual amount of revenue is a tiny fraction of that.

Throughout the trial, the Pirate Bay Web site has continued to operate, and has done continuously since it was founded in 2003—except for a few days in May 2006, after Swedish police raided its offices on copyright-infringement charges and seized much of its equipment.

It is unclear if outlawing the Pirate Bay will do much to reduce Internet piracy. In the past, downloaders have simply switched to different sites when the most popular content-sharing site is closed.

Nonetheless, the Pirate Bay has built up such a high profile that the entertainment industry will be able to claim a major victory against Internet piracy if it is shut down.

If the men are found not guilty, Sweden will likely have to change its copyright law to make file-sharing sites like the Pirate Bay illegal to bring the country into line with international agreements protecting the integrity of intellectual property, Mr. Olsson said.

workers handling outsourced jobs in India as "slumdogs".

The epithet, derived from the movie Slumdog Millionaire, came from Rush Limbaugh, America's most widely heard radio host, during a discussion on the economy last week.

Responding to a listener's call about flight of jobs, Limbaugh referred to President Obama's statement that the jobs aren't coming back to US. He said, "They're outsourced for a reason, an economic reason, and they're not coming back. If you're sitting out waiting for a job that's now being done by a slumdog in India, and you're waiting for that job to be cancelled, for the slumdog to be thrown out of work, and you to get the job, it ain't going to happen."

Limbaugh is not new to controversy. He has mocked Obama on his program, including playing a parody song titled 'Barack the Magic Negro'.

Suppose if the petrol price per litre in Chennai is Rs 51.90, here the break-up of cost calculated by the government:

Basic Price = Rs 21.93
Excise duty = Rs 14.35
Education Tax = Rs 0.43

VAT = Rs 5.5
Crude Oil Custom duty = Rs 1.1
Petrol Custom = Rs 1.54
Transportation Charge = Rs 6.00

So for a Rs 22 litre petrol at pumps, consumers in India pay Rs 28 tax extra.

Further 1 barrel of crude oil = 42 US gallons (159 liters or 35 imperial gallons). It produces 19.5 gallons of gasoline or petrol (74 liters), plus many other products such as kerosene, etc.

BE VI clinches the victory in a nail biting finale

“Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt”

Hands joined for prayers.Legs trembling with apprehension.Minds choked with suspense.

Well, Well, Well. We aren’t talking about Ekta Kapoor’s saas bahu soap. We are talking about religion of India. Yes, we are talking about cricket. And we are talking about the final match of the BIT CAVORTS 09 Cup, which couldn’t be more exciting than this one. Cricket is the game of uncertainties and day 3 was a perfect example of this. Be it the league match, the semi final or the final, the game was played at its best and each team gave its best shot which glued the spectators with their seats for the entire day.

MATCH 1: A perfect start for the day…….

The started with the last fixture of the league round between MBA II and MCA I. MCA I batted first and set a gigantic target of 177 runs for the opponent team. A ferocious knock of 51 runs on just 11 balls by Rajat left the MBA II clueless about the what has been happening on the ground. Kunal also scored half century(51 runs) and helped his team reach the huge score. In reply MBA II didn’t provide any stiff resistance got all out for just 107 runs. MCA I won by 69 and entered the second semifinal to face BE I, who had made it to the semis on day 2.

But the day had much more drama in its womb to be delivered in the semi final and the final, which one could foresee by now.

MATCH 2: Bowlers’ day out…..

The second semifinal between MCA I and BE I turned out to be a match low on score but high on thriller. Batting first, the whole team of BE I was back to the pavilion at a lilliputian score of 83 runs due to splendid bowling performance by Nitesh and Rajat. But as is the saying that fortune favors the braves, BE I didn’t lose hopes and gave in their everything to get back into the match. Magnificent bowling by Saksham and Venki, supported with some tight overs by Amit and Aditya didn’t allow MCA I to see the daylight and bowled them out on just 77 runs which also happened to be the lowest total of the tournament. Thus, BE I won the match by 6 runs and booked their seats in the finals to clash with BE IV.

The day had already witnessed both the extremes of the game. At one end we had some brilliant knocks by bat and the highest score of the tournament while at the other end we witnessed intelligent bowling performances restricting opponents to the lowest totals scored so far.

MATCH 3: ( The grand finale ) OMG !!! Can this happen……

Everyone, including the players, umpires, scorers, editorial team, spectators and onlookers, was all set for the long awaited moment to happen, the final match between BE I and BE IV to decide who the champion of BIT is. Finally the time had come. BE I won the toss and decided to bat first. Amit and Saksham gave a strong start to the batting side. They contributed 93 runs on board before Amit(30 runs) was caught by Ritesh on Amrendra’s bowling at mid-on. Soon after this, Saksham also got out when he was cought behind wickets by Viren on Praveen’s ball. BE VI bounced back with the fall of the openers and Ravi( 4 wickets ) collapsed the middle order of BE I. The team got all out for a defendable total of 136 runs in 13 overs as it was a 16 over match. In reply, BE IV lost an early wicket of captain Amrendra. Viren and Nikhil had a 50 run partnership for 1st wicket and gave an impetus to the team’s score and victory seemed easy for the chasing team.But the destiny had something else in her mind. Sudden collapse of the batting line up of BE IV poised the match equally between both the teams. Umpires Rahul Bansal and Ankur Mathur did a commendable job as they maintained their cool and made fair and correct decisions in the pressure cooker scenario where the appeals and expectations were raining like Tsunami. BE IV required 70 runs with 5 overs remaining and 4 wickets in hand. Amit, who charged the ball all round the ground and Varun, who kept the wicket intact at other end, played sensibly and lifted the score at a level where BE IV required 19 runs off 6 balls. Captains started scratching their grey matter while the players tried to calm themselves in the electrifying encounter. Finally, Saksham was given the ball to bowl the last over and Varun hit the ball for a six on his very first ball and got out on the next ball. Spectators came off the edges of their seats. Amit had the strike as well as the expectations. But next in offering was a dot ball for him. Supporters of BE I jumped off their feets as BE IV now needed 13 runs of 3 balls, which was very difficult to achieve looking at the current form of Amit. Next ball is bowled, and what do we see, the ball is sent to the boundary for 4 by Amit. Yes, match isn’t over yet. Environment is tensed. Players are clueless what to do. Mind battle between the batsman and the bowler is on. 2 balls and 9 runs, who knows what the next two balls had in offering? Saksham delivers the ball and Amit connets it to send the ball outside the boundary flying high. YES, it is a six. Now, a final cant be better than this one. 1 ball and 3 runs required to win. Fielding side captain sent most of the fielders to boundary but Amit has something else going on in his mind. The question in the air is – Next is what?? Ekta Kapoor can you tell us?? No even she is helpless in this case. Last and the decisive ball is bowled, Amit hits the ball high and the climax ….it was a six. BE IV had finish off this tournament in style. They proved they have the mettle and deserve to be champions.

All which one can hear is the celebration roars of the supporters of BE IV. Thus, BE IV becomes the champion.

Although officially BE IV will lift the cup, but the real winner is this great game, the gentlemen’s game, winner is the spirit of cricket, winner is the spirit of sportsmanship.Winners are the people behind the scene like Anhsul Mathur, Sabyasachi and their whole team who organized the matches in a hustle free manner. Winners are the teams who put in their effort to make the event possible and The winner is our college fraternity who creates such winners. Congratulations BIT.

While writing this report, I thought that what did we learn from these matches, from the fight back by BE I, from the bounce back by BE IV in the last overs, and these wording of our former prime minister, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpeyee, struck my mind

hey guys yeah it's right. i despiratly want my son to ride bike.for this i need help from all of u. no no u are getting it wrong i'm neither impotent nor i have any financial crises,it's just that to ride a bike he would be needing fuel and the speed with which we are using it carelessly,i don't find him riding the bike.please save fuel,it's precious.

there are some problems that i have identified in recent times.well govt has placed some timers at the traffic lights but most of them donot work,if some of them actually work then riders donot have any idea about when to switch of the engine and when to turn on.above that most of them donot have any idea when to throttle ,when to drive vehicle in which gear.please guys go to vehicle manufacturer's website,or the dealer,or the mechanic,or the transport control office this knowledge is actually and literally free of cost.well guys if a person is able to save 5 ml of fuel only per day then he saves 150 ml of fuel per month,imagine amount of fuel u save for ur pocket and nation and above all for the future generations.

please guys wake up do small things else there would be no michael schumacher's,valentino rosi,and definitly no narayan kartikeyan in future.after all every one wants that their kids achive more than what they have,but without fuel i don't think it would be possible.

Not every actor or celebrity is as open to talk about personal matters as Ranbir has been since the start of his career with Saawariya . The guy who bared his derriere for his very first film did not keep his romance with Deepika Padukone secret and the couple even gave an elaborate interview to a magazine in which they talked in detail about how they fell in love.

Now, Ranbir has bared a few more daring truths of his life in the March issue of ‘GQ’ that has the actor posing in a white suit and stubble for the cover.

Inside the mag, the Kapoor lad talks about doing the usual experiments which many youths today (not all) dabble in at some point of their lives.

"There was marijuana, there was alcohol; I started smoking cigarettes," Ranbir bares the truth in the interview to GQ.

Not just this, the actor talks about his first sexual experience and losing his virginity at the age of 15.

MANCHESTER: Cricket match referee Chris Broad on Wednesday slammed the Pakistan security forces for providing insufficient protection after he

and fellow officials came under fire during the terror attack in Lahore on Tuesday.

The van carrying Broad to the Gaddafi Stadium for the third day of the second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was fired upon by gunmen also shooting at the nearby Sri Lanka team bus.

Ex-England batsman Broad, who said he'd expressed concerns for his safety before the start of the tour, told a news conference here Wednesday: "I am extremely angry at the Pakistani security forces.

"We were promised high level security and in our hour of need that security vanished and they left us to be sitting
ducks...I am very fortunate to be here."

But after an incident where six Pakistani policemen and two civilians were killed, Lahore city police chief Habib-ur Rehman told AFP in Lahore: "It was precisely because of police valour and bravery that the Sri Lankan team and the international umpires survived."

Although Broad insisted he'd never expected to be shot at, he said: "I had an inkling before the Test match leg of the tour that something might happen.

"I raised my concerns with the ICC (International Cricket Council) before the tour started and they passed on those concerns to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and they assured me through e-mail that all security would be taken care of, presidential-style security.

"And clearly that didn't happen.

"When you watch the TV pictures you can clearly see the white van we were in, next to the ambulance in the middle of a roundabout, with terrorists shooting into our van and past our van and not a sign of a policeman anywhere."

PCB chairman Ijaz Butt responded angrily to Broad's comments.

"How can he say that when six policemen died in the attack? I will talk to him tomorrow (Thursday) morning and then give my full reaction," Butt said.

Broad, 51, has been praised for trying to protect severely injured local umpire Ahsan Raza after the fourth official had been shot in a van where the driver was killed by gunfire.

But a shaken Broad stressed: "I am not a hero.

"I only noticed he was injured when I saw a large pool of blood had spilled on to the floor. I just tried to put some pressure on the wound.

"We all had the same feeling - we were just waiting for a bullet to hit us."

Sri Lanka's tour was abandoned immediately after Tuesday's attack and then New Zealand indicated it would call off its November tour of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the ICC has raised doubts over whether the country can still co-host the 2011 World Cup.

And Broad, said the incident had the capacity to sound the "death knell" for international cricket in Pakistan.

"They have a lot of very talented cricketers, and I feel sorry for the cricketers and for the cricket-mad public of Pakistan," said Broad, the father of England fast bowler Stuart.

"But this is a bit of a death knell for cricket in Pakistan and I feel sorry for those people. I can't see it going on for the foreseeable future.

"Ijaz Butt has come out and said that friends will come to Pakistan but I don't think they have any friends in world cricket that will go to Pakistan after this has happened.

"Sri Lanka were a friendly country - they wanted to go, they wanted to support Pakistan. I don't think they will be going back and certainly India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa won't be keen."

Looking ahead, Broad said maybe the ICC would have to take more direct responsibility for security arrangements rather than leaving matters to individual boards.

"There are countries who have their own security experts," he said. "I know England have Reg Dickason from Australia.

"Reg Dickason didn't think Pakistan was safe for anyone to go to. He was amazed the Sri Lanka tour went ahead. But he's not advising Sri Lanka.

"Maybe there's something for the ICC to look at - that they themselves take the safety concerns into consideration and make the decisions."

Broad said his concerns were heightened by the recent ICC decision to revert back to making England the winners of the 2006 Test at The Oval, where Pakistan forfeited the match, having first changed the result to a draw.

"It was off the back of the ICC meeting where the Oval Test match result had changed, there had been a UN envoy that had been kidnapped in Pakistan and, of course, the Champions Trophy had been taken away from Pakistan," he said.

"I just thought as an Englishman, particularly with the Oval Test match, I just felt a little concerned for my own safety.

"But, as I said, I was assured by Zakir Khan, the director of cricket operations in the PCB, that everything would be fine.

"I was there for the one-day series and everything went well.

"Once you get assurances from someone who's actually living in the country and knows the situation...I went along with it."

Dear Fellow Indian,

Please take a moment to read this and forward it to as many people as you can.

We are at a critical point in the evolution of our nation. The nuclear deal, the moon mission, the global economy, regionalisation of politics, new faces of terror, etc. etc. - depending on how you look at issues around you, there are opportunities for, and threats to, our very way of life. That makes the upcoming elections a make or break event for India. Never before in the history of independent India has a single general election carried so much potential to shape our destiny.

How we are led by the next government has to be a reflection of how the majority of us wish to shape our destiny. But many of us do not vote, or worse - vote for the wrong reasons. In 2009, however, we cannot afford that. We cannot let the destiny of our nation be decided by non-thinkers. We must vote - and that too for the right reasons.

We need to start thinking now about how we will use our vote in the upcoming elections. What do we personally stand for? What will we not compromise on? Where do we stand on key issues? What issues are completely irrelevant for political parties to waste time on? Will we vote for someone simply because he or she belongs to our caste/community? How will we evaluate whether a serving candidate has been a success or failure?

These and many more questions should haunt us as individuals for at least the next few weeks, or they will haunt us as a nation for the next few generations.

So start thinking…

well well well ! today i'll not be aggressive against him.whatever has happened in past few days has again pinched me.entire nation is preparing for the big bash,finals of politics.well this has surely opened up the new horizons for the common man.the publicity and good will charm strategy is in air.sanctions,rate slash,tax cut,EXCISE DUTY REDUCED BY 2 % has been induced like the flue virus.the central govt. is trying it's best to increase it's vote bank,faith.in this scene i think that there can something that can be done by our chief minister too,at least better than commenting.when the central govt.that is the ruling party of the state too,there can be some feel good from the state govt. too to provide support and stimulus to the centre.what can be done is a follows.first of all in this present current of tax cut the state govt can also go for some kind of tax cuts like sales tax,this would definitely curb the inflation and the boost the business prospectus of the state.further state govt. could also create some jobs not only in the govt. but in private sector too.this will help in increasing the faith of the state's people.further the legal issues that are concerned with setting up of big industries in state shud be handled with care,flexibility in the system shud be increased so as too encourage industries in state.well after that there are various other issues that can be handled in the long run only like the power,scarcity of water,refineries,iit-iim,improvement of the transportation network,etc. these can be handled in the 5 year chase only.but i just feel that if Mr.chief minister just want to help and play his part of contribution to the upcoming elections,then the best thing that he can do as far as i see is tax cut.this will suddenly boost up the moral of the ruling party and the state.well the verdict here is only this that when the central govt. is trying so hard to induce good feel among the people by variety of tax cuts,opening of institutions,etc. then why not the state govt. of the same party also play it's part and benefit the people.whatever happens now its sure that the there will some kind of relaxation for the people of the state.but to what extent this relaxation will go is now in the hands of the chief minster.so shreeman now stop playing glamour commenting and start involving into some useful stuff that does good for the party in elections and people of state in long run.please do something.

Take example of Michael Phelps. Recently he was banned for some time for taking bong in public. Few people criticize the decision declaring it as an attack on his personal right. But when he society makes him a popular figure, he owes him a decent and ideal behavior and such misconduct should not be accepted as it affects many followers. If he wants to do anything like that, he should make sure that people or their personal lives are not affected by it. This Valentine’s Day, in a move that is meant to leave Pramod Mutalik and his ilk red-faced, a campaign is on to gift them with carton loads of pink chaddis

A “consortium of pub-going, loose and forward women”, still seething under Pramod Mutalik’s moral policing and hectoring, will collect chaddis from across the country and courier them to the Sri Rama Sena’s Bangalore office by V-Day. This is the revenge of the urban woman, ‘pink undergarment’ her symbol of annoyance.

The ‘Pink Chaddi Campaign’ was kicked off on Febraury 5 to protest the Sena’s warning against celebrating Valentine’s Day and the attacks on women in Mangalore. Though it started off in the e-world among members of a social networking group, it has now taken a life of its own and is out on the streets.

Nisha Susan, a features writer with a magazine, started this blog with the idea that it could be a forum where people could express their concern and views — particulary the disgust they feel over the recent turn of events. “On Thursday, I had an impulse that we should do something. I planned this campaign and posted it on the blog. The next morning, there were more than 600 posts and now there are over 1,500 posts from all over the world, including small towns, the US, Singapore and of course, all Indian metros. There are people from all age groups, six-year-olds to senior citizens and a lot of men too,” said Nisha.

People have signed up to drop chaddis at collection points in their cities, which will be sent to Bangalore. Those who have signed up also plan to go to pubs with their partners or friends on V-Day. Most of the members don’t drink and some haven’t ever visited a pub, but the spirit is to band together against moral policing and curbs on women’s freedom.

“We are concerned that talking about them would give them unnecessary mileage, but at the same time, we can’t keep quiet. If we ignore them, some other group will also start these political manoeuvres. They are not fools. They are political manipulators and we should give them what they deserve,” added Nisha.

The group has been aptly named ‘the consortium of pubgoing, loose and forward women’ because that is how Sena wants to project them. The campaigners do not specify if the undergarment should be new, but people interested can drop ‘pink chaddis’ at the collection box.

London: Search engine giant Google will soon come up with a system that may make the personal computer virtually redundant, predict technology expert.

The GDrive system will merge Google's all existing web-based services to make them easier to use together.

Industry reports suggest that the 'GDrive' would enable users to store almost all their data on the Internet, and access it from wherever they are.

"Throw your hard drive away, Google's Gdrive is arriving in 2009," the Telegraph quoted TG Daily, an American technology news website, as predicting.

The GDrive would make it possible to access and update information like emails, photographs, music, documents and spreadsheets from any device with an Internet connection.

The novel system is being described as 'cloud computing', wherein the web rather than the hard drive is used as the place where information is stored.

Google experts are said to have begun convincing the world of its benefits.

The fact that such services are usually free could undermine the Microsoft business model, which was originally based on the ability to sell software packages with new machines.

It is believed that the GDrive could "cause a major paradigm shift in how we use computers and bring Google one step closer to dethroning Windows on your desktop".

However, there are some who think that trusting Google with so much personal or commercial data is dangerous, for information may not be as safe in the cloud as it is in a computer.

Peter Brown, of the Free Software Foundation charity, said: "Does it matter to you that someone can see everything on your computer? Does it matter that Google can be subpoenaed at any time to hand over all your data to the American government?"

A Google spokesman refused to confirm whether the GDrive launch was imminent.

"We don't comment on speculation, and we don't pre-announce product launches," she said.

A balance sheet, also known as a "statement of financial position", reveals a company's assets, liabilities and owners' equity (net worth). The balance sheet, together with the income statement and cash flow statement, make up the cornerstone of any company's financial statements.

If you are a shareholder of a company, it is important that you understand how the balance sheet is structured, how to analyse it and how to read it.

How the balance sheet works

The balance sheet is divided into two parts that, based on the following equation, must equal (or balance out) each other. The main formula behind balance sheets is:

assets = liabilities + shareholders' equity

This means that assets, or the means used to operate the company, are balanced by a company's financial obligations along with the equity investment brought into the company and its retained earnings.

Assets are what a company uses to operate its business, while its liabilities and equity are two sources that support these assets. Owners' equity, referred to as shareholders' equity in a publicly traded company, is the amount of money initially invested into the company plus any retained earnings, and it represents a source of funding for the business.

It is important to note, that a balance sheet is a snapshot of the company's financial position at a single point in time.

Know the types of assets

Current assets
Current assets have a life span of one year or less, meaning they can be converted easily into cash. Such assets classes are: cash and cash equivalents, accounts receivable and inventory. Cash, the most fundamental of current assets, also includes non-restricted bank accounts and checks.

Cash equivalents are very safe assets that can be are readily converted into cash such as US Treasuries. Accounts receivable consists of the short-term obligations owed to the company by its clients. Companies often sell products or services to customers on credit, which then are held in this account until they are paid off by the clients.

Lastly, inventory represents the raw materials, work-in-progress goods and the company's finished goods. Depending on the company, the exact makeup of the inventory account will differ. For example, a manufacturing firm will carry a large amount of raw materials, while a retail firm caries none. The makeup of a retailers inventory typically consists of goods purchased from manufacturers and wholesalers.

Non-current assets
Non-current assets, are those assets that are not turned into cash easily, expected to be turned into cash within a year and/or have a life-span of over a year. They can refer to tangible assets such as machinery, computers, buildings and land.

Non-current assets also can be intangible assets, such as goodwill, patents or copyright. While these assets are not physical in nature, they are often the resources that can make or break a company - the value of a brand name, for instance, should not be underestimated.

Depreciation is calculated and deducted from most of these assets, which represents the economic cost of the asset over its useful life.

Learn the different liabilities

On the other side of the balance sheet are the liabilities. These are the financial obligations a company owes to outside parties. Like assets, they can be both current and long-term. Long-term liabilities are debts and other non-debt financial obligations, which are due after a period of at least one year from the date of the balance sheet.

Current liabilities are the company's liabilities which will come due, or must be paid, within one year. This is comprised of both shorter term borrowings, such as accounts payables, along with the current portion of longer term borrowing, such as the latest interest payment on a 10-year loan.

Shareholders' equity

Shareholders' equity is the initial amount of money invested into a business. If, at the end of the fiscal year, a company decides to reinvest its net earnings into the company (after taxes), these retained earnings will be transferred from the income statement onto the balance sheet into the shareholder's equity account.

This account represents a company's total net worth. In order for the balance sheet to balance, total assets on one side have to equal total liabilities plus shareholders' equity on the other.

Another interesting aspect of the balance sheet is how it is organized. The assets and liabilities sections of the balance sheet are organised by how current the account is. With a greater understanding of the balance sheet and how it is constructed, we can look now at some techniques used to analyze the information contained within the balance sheet. The main way this is done is through financial ratio analysis.

Financial ratio analysis uses formulas to gain insight into the company and its operations. For the balance sheet, using financial ratios (like the debt-to-equity ratio) can show you a better idea of the company's financial condition along with its operational efficiency. It is important to note that some ratios will need information from more than one financial statement, such as from the balance sheet and the income statement.

The main types of ratios that use information from the balance sheet are financial strength ratios and activity ratios. Financial strength ratios, such as the working capital and debt-to-equity ratios, provide information on how well the company can meet its obligations and how they are leveraged.

"PDA is not the culture of rajasthan" said the CM. well there are a lot of things that are not a part of the culture but he hardly noticed.there is definitly some respect involved when u say somthng to the ex CM above that too a lady,but that is never thought of.this is one of them.well Mr.Chief minister should know this that the youth of the state is well educated abt there culture.they know how to behave in public,they very well know how to respect their elders,what to do and what not to do.a person from such high office delivers these kind of statements in media,that too for own community doesn't go with the highness of the position.well the point is we the youth knows clearly our boundaries and jobs.but it just might be that people from such high offices have skipped the other jobs of high priority,like,1.what to do for oil refinery2.where should be IIT be placed,3.how to serve sweet water in remote villages,4.how to restore the water banks(taal katora-jaipur,ramgarh-jaipur to name a few),5.how to bring projects like NANO,6.how to deal with electric power shortage,7.how deal terrorism and upgarde the Police,8.reduction of sale tax to bring the petrol prices and other product prices down9.establishing the higher education institution of the likes of IIM,IIT,AIIMS,etc.

these are some major problems of the state not thePDA.well i don't get a reason for this when i have so much of important work to do ,how can i get time to deliver such statements ,oooppppppppppsssssss that means u know i am not buzzy and "an empty mind is devil's workshop".well the point here is that we the people choose u to sort out these kinda problems and not to play blame games and glamour glamour.u solve our basic problems and we are enough aware of what is our culture and what is not

There has been a lot of talk recently regarding the role and responsibilities of media in criminal cases(eg. Aarushi murder case) as well as at the time of crisis(26/11 mumbai terror attack).Supreme court of India and the media are cross swords as the supreme court has issued a notice to the govt. of India to lay down guidelines for the regulation of fourth estate coupled with the new media such as TV and Internet.Fourth estate remains is an independent pillar of our democracy along with the other three namely judiciary,executive and legislative. The roles and responsibilities of each is very well defined and the constitution refrains a body from interfering into the working or decision making of others. Therefore the question arises that is the judiciary right in limiting the rights of the fourth estate through legislative? Is fourth estate not able to control itself ?Do we need laws to curb the freedom of the media ?The biggest asset for the citizens of India is the free media.Even the most developed countries like USA and UK doesn't enjoy this privilege. Media is a very powerful tool as it educates people about their rights, inform people about their duties, bringing justice to many people, upbringing many cases to the light of the people, ensuring human rights, becomes a mean of knowledge & communication, bringing awareness on social and political causes, and what not.Then what happens that suddenly this powerful tool becomes a headache for the people as well as the govt. machinery? If this is such a useful tool then why do we need to regulate it? I believe that the made race for TRP and the day by day increasing no of 24 X 7 news channels have made us felt the need for judiciary intervention. No doubt that media defamed the sacred father - daughter relationship and the way it covered the whole case was no less than a circus. Supreme court rightly says that such coverage by media influences the impartial trial of the case and creates bias and affects the fundamental right to free and fair trial guaranteed by the constitution of India.Also a strong need for regulation on media was also felt when they almost support terrorist to prolong the hostage drama and fight against our commandos and all this just for an exclusive report.Media also infringes the people's right to privacy when it makes public the private life of celebrities.But is it only media which is to be blamed? No. Media gets this opportunity to interfere in other pillars of democracy because they allows it to do so. Because they doesnt do their job properly so media has to step in whatever its motive may be. Its the loopholes in the working of the judiciary, executive and legislative which allows media to be a judge or make mockery of the situation. Then what needs to be done in order to ensure the smooth and proper functioning of the media without interfering and without being interfered by the judiciary or legislative. There should be no doubt that we can't afford to lose its freedom to government because if it happens, it will lose the transparency and the very purpose of the free and independent media will be lost. For print media, there is already a committee called, Press Council of India, in effect since 1966. As far as digital media is concerned there need to be a committee comprising of the eminent media personality nominated by the media itself, retired or active supreme court judges and one or two members from the information and broadcast ministry of the govt. of India. This committee must lay down guidelines for the conduct of the media.Also this committee must ensure a proper action on faulty news agency or news channel in case any infringement of personal or social rights is done. it must also ensure that proper heed is paid to the complaints from general public, recommendations from court is being taken into consideration and to ensure the quality of news served. I believe these steps along with some matureness in the thinking of the media people will make India a true democracy with all the four pillars strong and intact.

Hey Anshul. Your concern for the hard earned money of the tax payers seems to be genuine and I appreciate that. As per my knowledge, govt. is not bailing out Satyam, instead its looking for a potential buyer to keep the corporation running. Well, the question posed here is if there is no buyer, should govt. bailout the company ?? Prima facie, we think that why should we pay for someone else's sin. Why do we give our money when we didnt gain anything( sounds very practical and capitalistic right !!), but for once, just think about the 50,000 ( source :wikipedia ) employees who'll lose their jobs if the shutters are closed .You are keeping at stake future of around 50,000 X 4 = 2,00,000 people. God forbid but if something happens to us tomorrow, wouldnt you expect the same from the govt. ?? This is what is govt. for, to secure the people from sins of some handful of people. That is why our country is socialistic. No doubt we should reform our system, should keep a better check on the company's finances as well as the auditors. But once the damage is done, the govt needs to make sure that least no of people are effected. when someone dear to you falls ill, you dont let him die like that right, you pay for his medicines and stuff. The same analogy i think applies here as well.

India is in a festive mood as Slumdog( कच्ची बस्ती का कुत्ता ) millionaire(SM) gets
nomination in 11 categories for Oscars. Well, don't want to spoil the mood but remember that SM is not an Indian entry, so even if it wins the award doesnt come to India. So what, we Indians always find an excuse to celebrate ( do you remember cadbury dairymilk's advt. - kenya jeet gaya ).With all the Indians goin ga-ga over the academy awards, one person doesnt seems to feel comfortable with the hullabulla, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and has once again raised the question that is winning an Oscar a true reflection of the perfection of Indian cinema, is it the ultimate goal?? Well, I dont think so. Renowned hollywood actor, Will Smith says," At American film festival, americans are goin to win, at french film festival, french are goin to win." We have an entirely different kind of cinema and thus it isnt necessary that our movies are well understood by the foreign jury. Secondly and the biggest reason I think that Indian movies are not able to make it at Oscars is that, India can have an official entry in only one category, i.e. "Best Foreign Film". Rest all the categories are reserved for Hollywood flicks. Hence the chances of making it to Oscars are very very slim. Given entry in other categories, I dont think some Indian movies will not give a neck to neck fight to hollywood flicks. What is the solution to this then. Cant we have Indian Oscars?? OMG, what have I said. One can jot down thousand points why cant we have Oscars of our own right from political intervention to opaque jury to regional bias blah blah blah. Dont we all know that what is happening to the Goa film festival. Therefore the only option left is to keep shut and let us again be jubiliant about the SM success. Jai ho !!

Well, coming back to our main topic, Mr. Bachchan has a problem the way India is depicted in the movie. Isnt it a reality?? Why do we always run away from the facts. If you really want to eliminate this face of India, you will have to accept that it exists. The solution doesnt exist in running away from the problem but in accepting it. He thinks that if he'll close his eyes, the world will go blind. No sir, that is not happening. And there is nothing wrong with the story, it shows the journey of a boy from a slum to a millionaire. Mr. Jai Prakash Chowksey says that this is the same Amitabh who became Amitabh because of these slumdog fans. These are the people who lifted him from thorn to throne, and now when he has become a king he deny the very existence of these people. Sorry Mr. Bachchan but this is not done.

Guidelines for implementing ban on smoking in public places

Smoking in Public Places

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all public places in India
Public Places" include auditoriums, Auditorium, Hospital Buildings, Health Institutions, Amusement Centres, Restaurants, Hotels, Public Offices, Court Buildings, Educational Institutions, Libraries, Public Conveyances, Open Auditorium, Stadium, Railway Stations, Bus Stops/stands, Workplaces, Shopping Malls, Cinema Halls, Refreshment Rooms, Discotheques, Coffee House, Pubs, Bars and Airport Lounge.
Any violation of this act is a punishable offence with fine upto Rs. 200
However, a hotel having thirty or more rooms or restaurant having a seating capacity of thirty persons or more & airports may provide/have a separate smoking area or space, as required by the rules.
The owner, proprietor, manager supervisor or in-charge of the affairs of a public place shall ensure that:
- No person smokes in the public place (under his jurisdiction/implied)
- Display board of minimum size of 60 cm by 30 cm with the message "No Smoking Area - Smoking here is an offence" at the entrance(s) of the Public place and conspicuous place(s) inside is mandatory
- No ashtrays, matches, lighters or other things designed to facilitate smoking are provided in the public place
The owner, proprietor, manager, supervisor or in charge of the affairs of a public place shall notify and display prominently the name of the person to whom a complaint of any violation may be made
If the owner, proprietor, manager, supervisor or the authorized officer of a public place fails to act on report of such violation, the owner, proprietor, manager, supervisor or the authorized officer shall be liable to pay fine equivalent to the number of individual offences.

As per the notification GSR 417(E) dated 30^th May 2008, the Central Government has revised the rules to ‘Smoking in Public Places‘ w.e.f 2^nd October, 2008.

THE MINISTRY of Health and Family Welfare is ready to implement the ban on smoking at public places in India from October 2onwards. The ministry issued the notification for the ban under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution), Act 2003. At first glance, it’s very clear that the law will make the smokers incapable of smoking anywhere they like. But the question is whether this law will prove more effective as compared to the previous law or not? Central Health minister Anbumani Ramadoss had said that according to the GSR 417(E) declaration of May 30, 2008, the new law, which is going to be implemented from October 2, 2008, is a renewal of the old one. That means the old was not much effective in controlling ‘public smokers’. Then what will be the end result of the new one?

The law imposes strict ban on the smoking at public places like auditoriums, hospitals, health centers, parks, hotels, pubs, government offices, courts, educational institutions, libraries, roads, shopping centers, malls, theaters, stadiums, bus stops, railway stations, coffee houses, bars, airport lounges etc. This time the law is quite hard and anyone caught smoking in public places or private organisations will be fined Rs 200, which may rise to Rs 1,000. Persons in a position of responsibility in institutions shall be authorised to impose and collect the fine against the violation of section 4. The law will also allow any individual to detain people found smoking in public places and take them to a magistrate. So if you find anyone smoking in the bus stop you can make him lose Rs 200. But states like Bihar and Maharashtra have expressed their inability to implement the ban. Now, if a state is unable to implement the law then what can a mere citizen do? Only one or two will raise their voice. So a special squad to find law breakers is necessary. Otherwise, the law would be like the closed circuit cameras placed in public places of Delhi, which were found ‘switched off’ at the time of serial blasts.

The best advantage of the new law is that, from October 2 onwards, common people would be unable to light a cigarette outside their houses. If one wants to smoke, he/she should go to a hotel or an airport having ‘smoking zones’. But, for a long time in most of the hotels and public/private offices there has been a ‘No Smoking’ board. Then who would be ready to make ‘smoking zones’ (except some profit making bars, hotels etc having regular ‘smoking’ clients) as now the law gives them power to say “leave the cigar.” If anyone is found smoking inside companies or offices included in the ‘ban’ list, the penalty should be paid by the owners/mangers/supervisors of concerned organisations.

Also, in public places, no one should be allowed to provide ashtrays, match boxes, lighters or anything, which smokers can use.

Central Health minister had said that in the last ten months in England around 45,000 people have quit smoking and he expects something like this to happen in India soon. But the population of smokers and social situation existent in India is quite different as compared to England. So there should be a strict enforcement of the new law. Cigarettes contribute 85 per cent to the total excise revenues collected from the tobacco industry, amounting to Rs 8,500 crores. So the question is whether Ramadoss is ready to cut these profits, given that more than twice that amount, is spent by the citizens of India to cure the diseases caused by tobacco every year. There is no dearth of laws in India. Most of the laws are helpful but fail due to slack implementation. Let’s hope that the new law, which is coming into effect from Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary proves effective for the better health of the nation.

What is compulsory voting?

Most democratic governments consider participating in national elections a right of citizenship. Some consider that participation at elections is also a citizen's civic responsibility. In some countries, where voting is considered a duty, voting at elections has been made compulsory and has been regulated in the national constitutions and electoral laws. Some countries go as far as to impose sanctions on non-voters.

Compulsory voting is not a new concept. Some of the first countries that introduced mandatory voting laws were Belgium in 1892, Argentina in 1914 and Australia in 1924. There are also examples of countries such as Venezuela and the Netherlands which at one time in their history practiced compulsory voting but have since abolished it.

Advocates of compulsory voting argue that decisions made by democratically elected governments are more legitimate when higher proportions of the population participate. They argue further that voting, voluntarily or otherwise, has an educational effect upon the citizens. Political parties can derive financial benefits from compulsory voting, since they do not have to spend resources convincing the electorate that it should in general turn out to vote. Lastly, if democracy is government by the people, presumably this includes all people, then it is every citizen's responsibility to elect their representatives.

The leading argument against compulsory voting is that it is not consistent with the freedom associated with democracy. Voting is not an intrinsic obligation and the enforcement of the law would be an infringement of the citizens' freedom associated with democratic elections. It may discourage the political education of the electorate because people forced to participate will react against the perceived source of oppression. Is a government really more legitimate if the high voter turnout is against the will of the voters? Many countries with limited financial capacity may not be able to justify the expenditures of maintaining and enforcing compulsory voting laws. It has been proved that forcing the population to vote results in an increased number of invalid and blank votes compared to countries that have no compulsory voting laws.

Another consequence of mandatory voting is the possible high number of "random votes". Voters who are voting against their free will may check off a candidate at random, particularly the top candidate on the ballot. The voter does not care whom they vote for as long as the government is satisfied that they fulfilled their civic duty. What effect does this unmeasureable category of random votes have on the legitimacy of the democratically elected government?

A figure depicting the exact number of countries that practice compulsory voting is quite arbitrary. The simple presence or absence of mandatory voting laws in a constitution is far too simplistic. It is more constructive to analyze compulsory voting as a spectrum ranging from a symbolic, but basically impotent, law to a government which systematic follow-up of each non-voting citizen and implement sanctions against them.

This spectrum implies that some countries formally have compulsory voting laws but do not, and have no intention to, enforce them. There are a variety of possible reasons for this.

Not all laws are created to be enforced. Some laws are created to merely state the government's position regarding what the citizen's responsibility should be. Mandatory voting laws that do not include sanctions may fall into this category. Although a government may not enforce mandatory voting laws or even have formal sanctions in law for failing to vote, the law may have some effect upon the citizens. For example, in Austria voting is compulsory in only two regions, with sanctions being weakly enforced. However, these regions have a higher turnout average than the national average.

Other possible reasons for not enforcing the laws could be complexity and resources required for enforcement. Countries with limited budgets may not place the enforcement of mandatory voting laws as a high priority still they hope that the presence of the law will encourage the citizens to participate.

Can a country be considered to practice compulsory voting if the mandatory voting laws are ignored and irrelevant to the voting habits of the electorate? Is a country practicing compulsory voting if there are no penalties for not voting? What if there are penalties for failing to vote but they are never or are scarcely enforced? Or if the penalty is negligible?

Many countries offer loopholes, intentionally and otherwise, which allow non-voters to go unpunished. For example, in many countries it is required to vote only if you are a registered voter, but it is not compulsory to register. People might then have incentives not to register. In many cases, like Australia, an acceptable excuse for absence on Election Day will avoid sanctions.

The diverse forms compulsory voting has taken in different countries refocuses the perception of it away from an either present or absent practice of countries to a study of the degree and manner in which the government forces its citizens to participate.

The same country which didn't allow black to vote till 70s or were supposed to leave a seat for a white person in buses and other public transport will chose a negro as their President only after 30 years or so. The world is surprised by the change American people have brought in themselves. Obama has recieved a throne of thorns from Bush Jr. and the world is looking at him for another miracle. He a charismatic speaker. Americans have sent him to the DC believing on his slogan "Change we need" he gave in his presidential campaign. Now not only Americans but the whole world is looking at him for the change. He has to toil right from Day1 in the Oval Office be it global meltdown, the wars at Iraq and Afganistan, the environmental frontor the Israel-Arab conflict. Now being proven that he is a very good orator, he gotta prove that he is a very good leader as well, because as the father of the modern management, Peter Ferdinand Drucker said "Effecrive leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results and not attributes." Obama has himself raised the bar of expectation of the people by comparing himself again and again with Abrahim Lincoln.Now is the time for him to act, to show his real mettle. Lets hope he can paint the picture he made with the right colors. Ahmen!!!

Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our
achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing
success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?
We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites...
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan, he has transferred the tribal village into a
self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such
achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and
failures and disasters.
I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was
the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken
place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had
the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed
his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture
that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments,
deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.

In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.. Why
are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so
obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign TVs, we want foreign
shirts. We want foreign technology.

Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that
self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this
lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked
her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a
developed India. For her, you and I will have to build this developed
India. You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it
is a highly developed nation.
Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance.

Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours.
YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke. The
airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their
destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.

YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it?

Take a person on his way to Singapore. Give him a name - 'YOURS'. Give
him a face - 'YOURS'. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your
International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on
the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground
links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through
Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5
PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking
ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall
irrespective of your status identity. In Singapore you don't say
anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan,
in Dubai . YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in
Jeddah.
YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in
London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and
ISD calls are billed to someone else. 'YOU would not dare to speed
beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop,
'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's
son. Take your two bucks and get lost.' YOU wouldn't chuck an empty
coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in
Australia and New Zealand.
Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo? Why don't YOU use
examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston??? We are still
talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign
system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw
papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground.
If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien
country, why cannot you be the same here in India?

Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay,
Mr. Tinaikar, had a point to make. 'Rich people's dogs are walked on
the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place,' he
said. 'And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the
authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect
the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels
the pressure in his bowels?
In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the
job. Same in Japan.
Will the Indian citizen do that here?' He's right. We go to the polls
to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility.
We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do
everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We
expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop
chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a
up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the
railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the
proper use of bathrooms.
We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and
toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least
opportunity.
This applies even to the staff that is known not to pass on the service
to the public.

When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women,
dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations
and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? 'It's the whole
system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my
sons' rights to a dowry.' So who's going to change the system?
What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of
our neighbors, other households, other cities, other communities and
the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us
actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock
ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the
distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr. Clean to come along &
work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the
country and run away.
Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in
their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we
run to England. When England experiences unemployment, we take the
next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to
be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out
to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system.
Our conscience is mortgaged to money.

Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a
great deal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too.. I am
echoing J. F. Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to
Indians...

Hi..this time i would like to share something on theology. Recently watched a movie called "ZEITGIEST". According to the movie, Religion - christianity in particular - is nothing but a big blunder, a fictious feeling, an excuse - well created and carried forward - by the church to give a sacred name to their hieneous acts and unethical deeds. According to the movie, Jesus Christ is a fictious character and Bible has been lifted straight away from the ancient Egyptian scripts. Similarly for the other religions as well. Well, i would not comment on how much the movie claimed was correct or truth because im niether the right person nor i think i have sufficient knowledge to comment on the same and hence have no right to do it.Also, i respect Jesus and therefore my conscience doesnt allow me to do so.( Yes, I go to church every christmas) . But , directly or indirectly this movie increased the stature of Hindy mythology in my heart. He - the director of the movie - could compare and disregard any religion or faith in the world but Hinduism. He could not contradict or defy the sanctity of Hinduism and I think no one can ever do that because there are no flaws in Hinduism and its ethos. For example the Ram Sethu which has its mention in the RAMAYANA has been discoverd by the NASA sattelites. Similarly, the ruins of the holy city of DWARKA ruled by Lord KRISHNA and made by VISHWAKARMA has been found by the oceanographers ( have i used the right word ?) . The holy city MATHURA still has the jail where Lord KRISHNA is said to have taken birth. Hinduism, I think is differen from all other religions because it starts from the beginning of the universe ( whereas in literatures from other religion.. the moment THE BIG BANG is simply described as the work of The GOD) which is said to be created by LORD SHIVA and the literature contains or disusses everything till eternity. This is the greatness of Hinduism. It scientifically explains every natural phenomena. We have literatures on everything right from philosophy to medicine to lifestyle to education to sex to yoga and what not. Max Mueller once said “If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply
pondered on the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions, I should point to India.” He, no doubt, refers to the spiritual knowlege given by Hinduism and its scriptures. People say there are many social taboos in hinduism for eg. sati pratha , i would like to mention that these worsds and pracrises has been wrongly highlited or adapted or understood by the people( no doubt it includes our ancestors from India as well.). Some people held hindu sciptures responsinble for promoting odd feelings about it . For eg. the stanza from Ramayan goes as:

Once again, I would like to mention that by this article I does not mean to offend or hurt people having faith in other religions. The worst effect of the ongoing economic crisis

Credit crunch has not even spared Hugh Hefner - and conditions at his end have gone so worse that the Playboy founder has opened doors of his renowned mansion to the public - for a fee.

According to reports, Hefner was advised last month to fire some of his staff in his Los Angeles and New York offices to avoid financial ruin.

But, his spokesperson Elizabeth Austin gave no definite answer about the financial problems the company was facing at the time.

The Playboy boss has since extended an invitation to the exclusive parties held at the mansion, in return for money.

The tickets to the notorious parties range from 5,000 dollars to 25,000 dollars, depending on the celebrities in attendance.

Hefner has to pay a reported rent of 700,000 dollars annually for the mansion, owned by his Playboy Enterprises.

Meanwhile, a company spokesperson has denied that Hefner's recent split from girlfriends Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson have anything to do with his monetary problems.

The girls "are not even on the payroll. So, they would be the last to go," reports Contactmusic

Impact of decrease in CRR Ratio

I heard the news that RBI is decreasing the cash reserve ration by 150 pt. basis to increase the liquidity in the market. It will bring Rs. 60,000 crores into the Indian market. Initially I thot y RBI has taken this step as it'll again increase the rate of inflation which was afterall under control after so much efforts.. but i had a talk with vinay sir ..then i realised that this monetory measure will not have any effect on the rate of inflation as the cause of inflation were something else i.e. the crude oil price and the scarcity of commodity in the market which are under control now( crude oil fell below $83 / barrel ...AMAZING !!), but the present crisis is due to the negligible assets into the market all over the globe. Hmmmm... after all RBI ppl are not fools..silly me..

Read an article which said that FDIs too can draw back their money simply by selling off their assets..dint get it as it went against my conventional notion of FDI investment ..then what difference remains between the FDIs and the FIIs. Can anyone help me out??

I read an article in TOI today about the US and its habit of overspending. According to the article,

"with 5 per cent of the world’s population, the US consumes 24 per cent of the world’s energy; an average American consumes as much energy as 13 Chinese, or 31 Indians, or 128 Bangladeshis, or 370 Ethiopians.

America’s total calorie intake is 815 billion calories a day, which nutritionists say is some 200 billion in excess of requirement, sufficient to feed 80 million people. Moreover, each day, Americans throw away 2,00,000 tons of edible food. If developing countries wanted to live like this, four new Earth-sized planets would have to be created to provide the necessary resources."

The US has dug the grave for themselves. Considered itself the superpower and was under the illusion that it will remain so forever. The loans given by the US banks which led to the subprime collapse are making economies all over the world feel the heat. The supepower , who has come up at the time of war of Iraq as the saviour of world, has the guts to take the responsibility of the crisis ???

An Indian - American, Neel Kashkari, has been appointed as the person responsible to spend th $700 bn. bailout in the market. India should make correct moves at the time so and sustain the heat of this crisis ...and if it is able to do so ..then no doubt it will be the next superpower.
